Stage 1 Remap in Preston & Lancashire
A Stage 1 remap is the most popular upgrade we do. It optimises your engine's software on an otherwise standard vehicle — no supporting modifications required — for more power, stronger torque and a noticeably sharper drive.
- No hardware changes needed
- Stronger low-end torque & response
- Often improves everyday MPG
- Completed at your home in around an hour
What is a Stage 1 remap?
Stage 1 is a software-only remap designed to run safely on a completely standard vehicle. It works within the limits of your factory hardware — the standard turbo, injectors, intercooler and exhaust — to unlock the performance the manufacturer left on the table.
Because nothing physical is changed, Stage 1 is the natural first step for most drivers. It delivers the biggest real-world improvement per pound and keeps the car easy to live with day to day.
Typical benefits
Most customers notice:
- Increased power and torque across the rev range
- Stronger, earlier pull — especially useful in-gear and for overtaking
- Sharper throttle response
- Smoother motorway cruising and easier towing on diesels
- Potential for improved fuel economy with a lighter right foot
Power and torque gains
Gains vary significantly by engine, ECU and calibration, so we don't quote a single percentage for every car. As a general guide, modern turbocharged engines respond strongly, while naturally aspirated engines see more modest gains. We give a realistic, vehicle-specific estimate before any work — never an inflated headline number.
Hardware, clutch and reliability considerations
Stage 1 is designed to work with your standard hardware, but a few things are worth knowing. On higher-mileage or heavily-worn vehicles, a tired clutch may show its age once torque increases — this is more relevant on manual diesels. A healthy, well-serviced engine is the best foundation for a remap, which is exactly why we health-check the car first.
We keep the calibration within safe limits for the turbo and engine. If your vehicle isn't a good candidate for tuning in its current condition, we'll tell you honestly.
The process & how long it takes
We arrive at your location, run a diagnostic check, back up your original file, write the Stage 1 file and then verify everything with live data and a road check where appropriate. Most Stage 1 remaps are completed in around 45 minutes to an hour.
Your car can be returned to its original map at any time — we keep your factory file backed up.
